Inhalt In recent years, sustainability has increasingly gained a place as a relevant target dimension for companies, politics and society. The sustainability-related effects of projects, policies, laws or business endeavors must be taken into account in the planning, controlling of and reporting on the respective measures. To achieve this, various methods and instruments are used, which are summarized under the term sustainability assessment. A sustainability assessment can be used to check at an early stage whether a project is compatible with the goals of sustainable development. The expected positive and negative effects of the project on the environment, society and the economy as well as on the corresponding subject areas of these three dimensions are systematically recorded and transparently presented.
The lecture is offered jointly by the University of Basel and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) and provides participating students with the theoretical and methodological foundations of sustainability assessment, an overview of the available methods (2) and a practical application of these methods in the context of three specific case studies (3).
Lernziele - Developing an understanding of the theoretical and methodological foundations of sustainability assessment
- Development of an overview of the available methods and requirements of sustainability assessment
- Ability to independently apply the methods developed in three specific case studies
