Inhalt The course focuses on the practical application of European Law. The students advice a client in a fictional case (European Law Moot Court 2024/2025) and draft their arguments in written pleadings for proceedings in front of the European Court of Justice.
Working in groups, seminar participants will in an intensive effort write the two pleadings of 15 pages each that will be submitted to the current “European Law Moot Court” (ELMC) competition. Deadline for submissions is expected to be Nov. 25th 2024 (to be confirmed, depending on the publication of deadlines by the organising ELMC Society).
Furthermore, out of the seminar participants the best suited and motivated students are selected to participate in the “European Law Moot Court Competition” (ELMC). A maximum number of four participants will have the opportunity to register as the team representing the University of Basel in the ELMC competition. Based on the written submissions, the team may qualify for participation in the oral regional finals of the ELMC in late February/early March 2025. In this case, the team members additional work associated with attending the regional finals will be rewarded with an additional 3 KP (learning contract).
