| Inhalt | This lecture course introduces the field of Medical Anthropology to undergraduates. Medical Anthropology is a subfield of anthropology that draws upon many different theoretical approaches to study meanings of health and well being, the experience of illness, treatment seeking, the social relations. In this course we first review the history of medical anthropology through its own texts. We then present an overview of the different theoretical approaches that anthropologists have taken in their studies of health and illness. In a third part we explore anthropological research of the clinical encounter, international and global health, reproductive health, urban health as well as of migration and health. |
| Lernziele | At the end of the lecture course, students have an overview of the most important concepts and debates in medical anthropology. |
