| Inhalt | Topics include: procuring, processing, manipulating, preserving and preparing diverse types of food and drink; places of consumption; rules, attitudes, ideologies; representation in word and image, symbolic meanings, the creation of identities through food and drink. Fictive and non-fictive texts on food and drink will be provided, e.g. historical recipes, Falstaff’s praise of sherry as well as cartoons and excerpts from relevant films. Field work, though recommended, will be optional. |
| Lernziele | Understanding the aims and methods of an interdisciplinary cultural studies project. Expanding students’ knowledge of English and American literary history on the basis of a thematic focus. |
