Inhalt | The Research Lab is an interdisciplinary course that aims at bringing participants from different disciplines together to discuss the challenge of researching the real world. It discusses the differences between basic and applied research by introducing participants to the different nature of questions and design that each type of research entails. The Research Lab draws mainly from the work of the participants themselves (MA and PhD theses) to explore the challenges of knowledge production in Africa, particularly against the background of development policy. |
Lernziele | Participants will be acquainted with the different nature of basic and applied research; Participants will learn how to distinguish applied and basic research through the nature of research questions and research design; Participants will acquire skills in designing research projects to suit basic or applied needs. |
