| Inhalt | An introduction to crop protection with a focus on modern crop protection research will be provided covering the topics: - Modern agribusiness - markets, companies, benefits and challenges - Current leading products: fungicides, herbicides, insecticides. - Examples of new technologies (biologicals, nematicides, malaria vector controls, RNA based biocontrols, etc.). - Discovery and optimization of new crop protection products - Current trends in crop protection research - Product safety evaluation and registration of agrochemicals - Modern formulation technology - Patent protection of agrochemicals This course includes a half day visit of the Syngenta Research Campus in Stein including a tour through the biological testing facilities and a round table discussion with leading scientists. |

Depending on the number of participants the semester study is either an individual or a group work. A short written report as well as a short presentation at the end of the semester is expected. |
