| Inhalt | The core of our MA Anthropology in Basel is training ethnographic methodologies through a partly subsidized and guided fieldtrip. During this course (two semesters, six weeks of fieldwork abroad) you will develop your own proposal and conduct your project under the supervision of Dr. Silke Oldenburg. The field course will take you to Colombia in January and February 2017. You can complete your MA by 2018. The general theme of the field course is “Making the City in Cartagena/ Colombia”. You will have the opportunity to research how urbanites make their city as social, cultural and architectural spaces, how and in what contexts urbanites encounter or distance themselves from others and how they engage in the formation of social spaces across cityscapes and how in turn cities are transformed by such practices. | Lernziele | • formulate your own research questions that meet your individual interests and job perspectives while being advised and monitored by experienced anthropologists. • apply ethnographic methods during a field trip of six weeks to urban Colombia combining theory and practice. • improve your language skills in an exciting context. • analyse the collected data, to present the results in academic contexts and to write a final field report. • acquire the necessary skills for a possible PhD project. |
