| Inhalt | This Archive and Book Praktikum integrates interested students into an ongoing photo book/curation project on colonial photography, negative stripes, contact sheets and portraiture in southern Africa, 1930s to 1960s. We invite advanced students to reflect on and work with us on the content and design of a photo book and related presentation forms. Whilst the photo book is an ongoing project of the BAB archives, the schedule of the project will be jointly determined. Students would require to engage with and reflect on themes such as curation of photo archive (re-)presentations (exhibitions, photo books, catalogues, online presentations, etc) and audiences and readerships for photo (re-)presentations from colonial archives and in post-colonial contexts. They would involve themselves in aspects of the actual production of the content and layout of a photo book, ie image selection, image, caption and text productions etc. All sessions have a strong practical focus with regard to the materiality of colonial image archives and photo books. We envisage students to become team members and co-authors of the proposed publication. The Lehrveranstaltung will integrate the expertise of a photographer/photo curator and photo book designer. |

| Teilnahmevoraussetzungen | Studierende der Geschichte und der African Studies, sowie Studierende weiterer Studienfächer, in deren Module die Übung verknüpft ist. Bei Überbelegung wird die Teilnehmerzahl beschränkt. In diesem Fall werden Studierende der Geschichte bevorzugt zugelassen. |
