Inhalt | In this course, students will learn to apply statistical methods in R to answer research questions in the behavioral sciences. With a particular focus on experimental methods, the course covers the basic principles of measuring variables, analyzing relationships between variables, and conducting and interpreting t-tests, ANOVAs, and regression models, as well as moderation, mediation, and conditional process models. Practical sessions are integrated throughout, focusing on the use of R and RStudio for data manipulation, visualization, and interpretation of statistical results. Designed to help students overcome any fear of statistics, this course prepares them for an empirical thesis in the behavioral sciences. It complements the course “Multivariate Datenanalyse” (10198-01) and focuses on statistical methods in experimental behavioral research. The course is also open to Master’s students, offering an opportunity to refresh and apply their statistical knowledge and skills. |
Lernziele | By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand and apply different levels of measurement and scales. 2. Perform and interpret t-tests, ANOVAs, post-hoc tests, and planned contrasts. 3. Conduct simple and multiple linear regression analyses. 4. Implement and interpret mediation and moderation models and conduct conditional process analyses. 5. Use R and RStudio to manipulate data, perform statistical analyses, and visualize results effectively. 6. Critically evaluate statistical results and their implications in the context of behavioral science research. |
