Inhalt | China has become a global actor with impact in all world regions and international institutions. The presence of Chinese diplomats, companies, investors, tourists, scholars and emigrants is felt in many countries around the world as well as in international organizations. What kind of normative and material impact does global China have in specific countries and regions? How to conceptually and understand its multifaceted influence? This seminar is a Katekisama seminar co-designed for students of Basel University, and offered to students from the University of Ghana and University of Bonn. It will explore different framings of China’s rise and global presence, including 1) geopolitics and geoeconomics, 2) knowledge and epistemology, 3) influence operations & soft power. Students will work in groups and also have the opportunity to discuss prospectively with experts from Germany, Brazil, Japan, Ghana and China. |
Lernziele | The seminar is animated by a research focus and will include live expert conversations which China researchers from various countries. |
