| Inhalt | European governments provide their citizen access to health care via compulsory health insurance or national health services. The lecture series discusses the rationale for funding or not funding specific health care services, and introduces different methods for their evaluation, with a focus on cost-benefit / cost-utility analysis. Concepts addressed include the value of a statistical life, quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and further utility measures for health and life. After explaining fundamentals of evidence generation on effectiveness in healthcare, with drug development as a case example, the course will cover health technology assessment and decision-analytic modelling, and guide students in the execution of practical cases. Finally, pricing of pharmaceuticals is addressed and business cases are presented. |

| Bemerkungen | The instructors are members of the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Medicine. The team is joined by Dr. Sophia Kessabi, a pharmacist with many years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in Market Access and Health Economics and Outcome Research. Dr. Kessabi will introduce pricing theory and strategy as well as business cases. Teaching Assistant is Dr. Dilek Sevim. |
