| Anmeldung zur Lehrveranstaltung | This journal club is open to students with a strong interest in the fields of Digital Pathology and Computational Pathology. This seminar is an opportunity for participants to learn about recent research results and state-of-the-art methodologies, to develop their reviewing skills and to get input from participating experienced researchers. This course consists of 7 sessions of 1h30, distributed on a bi-weekly basis, every session requiring 2h of preparation time. At every session, we will focus on a recent publication that will be selected in advance, and all the participants will have to study it and prepare it in advance so as to engage in a fruitful discussion. The range of potential topics covers: novel technical developments in digital/computational pathology (microscopy, tissue analytics, tissue image analysis, machine learning) and their medical applications (diagnostic pathology, biomarker development). (a list of all the previous publications studied over the past sessions of the journal club is available in the course's link) Biomedical engineers and pathologists from the Computational and Translational Pathology Lab at the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel participate in the sessions, contribute to the discussion, share their view on the studied publications and answer questions from the participants. Once per semester, every student will have to prepare and give a short 10-minute presentation to introduce the background and related work of the selected publication at a given session. |
