| Inhalt | Insects are the most species-rich group of multicellular organisms and dominate almost all terrestrial ecosystems. They have developed impressive survival strategies, but often go unnoticed - because of their small size and secretive lifestyle. In this lecture, ecologist Dani Lucas-Barbosa and systematist Seraina Klopfstein provide insights into the diversity, ecology and evolution of insects. Main topics are their ecological roles - from plant interactions to predator-prey dynamics and from parasitism to symbioses. The course combines systematic and evolutionary basics with concrete ecological examples and aims to awaken fascination for these often underestimated animals. |
