Semester Herbstsemester 2026
Angebotsmuster Jedes Herbstsemester
Dozierende Julia Friederike Bohlius (julia.bohlius@unibas.ch, BeurteilerIn)
Inhalt The course leverages the richness of diversity in higher education at Swiss TPH by fostering mutual learning and promoting inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration. Participants from various academic and cultural backgrounds will experience how reflection, professional- and self-awareness enhances the benefit studying in a multi-cultural environment. Through critical reflection, students will assess the impact of implicit biases on their learning process and research approaches. Additionally, they will be encouraged to actively contribute to this collaborative setting by developing self-leadership skills, taking responsibility within team dynamics, and strengthening their intercultural competencies. The course emphasizes the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as sustainability and artificial intelligence for a critical understanding of epidemiological research.
Lernziele By the end of this course, students will be able to:
• Explain the relevance, opportunities, risks and ethical implications of four transversal themes for epidemiological research: diversity, sustainability, digitalization and AI, and international collaboration.
• Demonstrate openness to different perspectives and critically reflect on personal assumptions, and values when contributing to research.
• Collaborate effectively in multicultural teams to enhance their learning experience.
• Adopt an assessor’s perspective to identify and justify how the four transversal themes could contribute to the quality and societal relevance of an MSc thesis.
• Compare and integrate different perspectives through active listening, equitable participation, constructive discussion and shared decision-making.
Bemerkungen This course was co-created with students, lecturers and Swiss TPH partners.
