| Inhalt | Technē: art, skill, know-how, practice. (see also, technics) Lógy: study, account, subject, system. (see also, logos) Technē-lógies is a series of advanced-level seminars on the study (-lógy) of craft (-technē). The seminar is topically independent but expects the students to have some familiarity with critical theoretical discourses, be it across questions of art, media, language, science, technology, history, philosophy, culture, politics, or economy. To that end, it is advised that the enrolling student has successfully successfully taken at least one previous course on humanistic theories. This particular iteration of the course shall be focused on the political economy of technology. We shall encounter the long trajectory of scholarship on infrastructure, automation, subjectivation, calculation, and logistics. Some of the scholars we shall study include Karl Marx, Antonio Gramsci, David Noble, Tiziana Terranova, Alexander Galloway, Beverley Best, and Aaron Benanav. |
