Inhalt | China is experiencing rapid economic growth with concomitant societal, regional and politi-cal changes. Such changes open up many opportunities for foreign industrial investment but also allow for widening development differentials within Chinas urban industrial and rural areas. The field trip will contribute to an understanding of both how economic poten-tials are being realized in Chinas Pearl River Delta Region, and how regional development differentials are being dealt with. Preliminary Program: June 4: flight to Hongkong, June 5: Transfer to Guangzhou; Introductory Seminar: Development of the Pearl River Delta and Guangdong Province June 6: Urban Commercial Land Use and Planning in Guangzhou June 7: Boat Trip on the Pearl River June 8: Changing Urban Fringe, Gated Communities, Nansha Industrial Enterprise Zone June 9: Individual Studie of the Guangzhou Area June 10: Shunde Rural Industrial Development and Economic Transition in the Pearl River Delta June 11: Shunde, visit Zhuhai and Macao June 12: Urban and Regional Development in the Underdeveloped Areas, Danxia Mountains June 13: Joint Field work of Chinese and Swiss students. Life of the People in small towns in underdeveloped Guangdong June 14: Donguan Model: Rural Industrial Development in the Pearl River Delta (Donguan Urban Planning Bureau, Labor intensive industrial forms, Songshanhu High-Tech Industrial Park) June 15: Zhangmutou Town: Local Economic Development from Manufacturing to Real Estate, arrival in Shenzhen June 16: Urbanization and Industrialization of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, High tech industrial parks, CBD, Yantian Harbour June 17: Joint field work of Chinese and Swiss students in Ba Gua, Chinese Overseas Town June 18: Transfer to Hong Kong June 19: Urbanization and Economic Development in Hong Kong June 20: Individual studies in Hong Kong and return flight to Switzerland |
