| Inhalt | This seminar examines the significance of the so-called spatial turn in disciplines such as e.g. cultural and literary studies. The term applies well to the turn South Africa is currently undergoing: Inner cities, most notably Johannesburg, are deserted as well as repopulated with immigrants. This shift to urban areas is not new in South Africa (cf. the Jim comes to Joburg novel) but of a current emergency that produces a range of new texts. Apartheid as a regime of segregation and repopulation still lingers large. Today post-apartheid development is constrained by confliction |
