| Inhalt | Liquidity crises, once again, are causing great concern. In this lecture, we will be asking what function liquidity fulfills in a modern economy. We will be looking at the kind of frictions that make money essential and consider the role of credit and financial intermediation in the economy. On this basis, we will discuss various micro- and macroeconomic aspects of monetary theory and monetary policy. |
| Literatur | The course consists of two parts: a lecture and the study of individual papers. The lecture is based on the book "Money, Payments, and Liquidity" by Ed Nosal from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Guillaume Rocheteau from the University of California-Irving. The book will be coming out in MIT press in the near future. You can find it on my website as a pdf-file shortly before the lecture starts. Individual papers: to be announced |
| Bemerkungen | The course consists of two parts. The lecture will take place at the following dates: From 04.03.2010 till 15.04.201 weekly on thursdays 10:15 - 14:00 After the lecture I will hand out individual research papers to the participants. The participants prepare a presentation of the paper. The dates for these presentations are not yet determined. Monetäre Ökonomie ist ein Kernfach VWL für das Lizentiatsstudium. |
