Content | How can soldiers or doctors stay cognitively sharp when tired or in stressful situations? How do health behaviors, like sleep, nutrition, and physical activity, influence students' academic performance? Which interventions best improve older adultsʼ cognitive fitness and well-being? Should scientists take cognitive enhancing drugs? This seminar is aimed at helping budding psychologists understand and evaluate the scientific evidence bearing on the issue of which interventions are best designed to enhance cognition and motivation, in other words, to answer the question: What behaviors make us smart? The goals include understanding the biological and cognitive processes leading to cognitive enhancement, identifying limitations in current scientific knowledge, and making recommendations about how to improve cognitive functioning in everyday life. |
