| Content | The course treats important subjects of current biomedical ethics. Case vignettes are used to illustrate the ethical issues. Contemporary approaches in bioethics, especially principle based approaches, will be presented and discussed, together with the basic framework of legal regulation in Switzerland. Topics include medical/scientific error, research ethics, ethical issues related to cutting edge biotechnology (e.g. synthetic biology, nanotechnology), environmental ethics, responsibilities of scientists and physicians, confidentiality and others. |
