Semester | fall semester 2011 |
Course frequency | Every fall sem. |
Lecturers | Philippe Claude Cattin (philippe.cattin@unibas.ch, Assessor) |
Content | The course will start with an introduction to the main medical imaging modalities (devices, physical principles, image characteristics, diagnostic use...). Then we will focus on computerised image processing methods for image enhancement, automatic detection of structures, registration algorithms to put into correspondence several images, methods for matching 3D images and 2D projections (X-ray and fluoroscopy), etc. We will try to include as many examples from real life as possible to keep things intuitive, but certainly there will also be an important theoretical (mathematical) component. The course Introduction to Signal and Image Processing is a prerequisite for this course. |
