Content Introduction to key issues in English sociolinguistics and the sociology of English as a global language: the lecture will deal with key concepts, while the Übung will apply these principles to the analysis of language data. There will also be some practical field work, and brief presentations in class.

Assessment details This course will be evaluated with a written exam in the lecture and a written report in the Übung, which together have to average 60 percent. Marks of below 50 percent for either part cannot be compensated.
