13184-01 - Lecture: Cell interactions in Development and Disease (2 CP) (CANCELLED)

Semester fall semester 2013
Course frequency Every 2nd spring sem
Lecturers Matthias Chiquet (matthias.chiquet@fmi.ch)
Ruth Chiquet-Ehrismann (ruth.chiquet@unibas.ch)
Markus A. Rüegg (markus-a.ruegg@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Cellular interactions regulate normal development of multicellular organisms and errors lead to malformations and severe diseases such as cancer. We will provide an introduction into the molecular composition of extracellular matrices and cell/cell and cell extracellular matrix adhesion proteins. We will discuss the mechanism of interaction of the adhesion receptors with the cytoskeleton and with intracellular signaling cascades. We will provide the basic information as well as examples of the
current state o the art research by lectures of invited expert scientists.
