18892-01 - Colloquium: Research in Linguistics (3 CP)

Content This course is for advanced MA English, MA SuK and PhD candidates in English linguistics. We will discuss the 'work in progress' (seminar papers, MA theses, PhD theses) of the participants and will work on acquiring research skills in methodology, critical reading and soft skills. The oral MA exam will also be discussed.
Learning objectives Students learn to present their research topics on a high level. They should be able to outline and defend or criticize different research approaches and to spell out the predictions made by different hypotheses.

Admission requirements This course is for MA and PhD students of English and MA students 'Sprache und Kommunikation'.
