| Content | The currently developing sustainability sciences are facing a major challenge in integrating natural and societal phenomena: neither the natural nor the social sciences can easily incorporate the subject matter and methods of the other discipline. In this seminar we will adopt the social sciences perspective and investigate ways in which the „natural“ could be integrated into social theory. We will discuss several approaches, including societal metabolism and social-ecological regimes. To what extent these approaches can contribute to sustainability sciences and to interdisciplinarity will be a main discussion point. Furthermore we will combine theoretical thinking with current sustainability topics. |
| Learning objectives | Goals: The participants will - become familiar with the relevant literature about nature-environment concepts; - learn different theoretical approaches; - be able to combine theory with concrete topics from the field of sustainability. |

| Comments | Anrechnung im MSD: Dieses Seminar ist im Kernbereich Phil.-Hist. publiziert und setzt daher die Studienvariante mit Vertiefung Phil.-Hist. voraus. Nach Rücksprache mit P. Burger kann diese LV mittels LC für den Vertiefungsbereich Phil.-Hist. angerechnet werden. Dieses Seminar ist ein Angebot vom MSD, Dr. Bianca Baerlocher hat einen Lehrauftrag vom MSD erhalten. |
| Admission requirements | English version: Special course inscription required for ALL (for details see "Anmeldung"). Limited number of participants (25), MSD-Students and those of MEGS have priority. Students of other fields of study have to be inscribed in a master degree within the "Phil.-Hist." faculty. Course inscriptions via ISIS, email, or in a different way ARE NOT taken in account. Deutsch: Studierende vom MSD und vom MEGS haben Vorrang. Andere Interessierte studieren ein Phil.-Hist. Masterfach. Anzahl TeilnehmerInnen begrenzt (25). ACHTUNG: Anmeldung über spezielles Onlineformular ist für ALLE obligatorisch (Link siehe unter Anmeldung). Anmeldungen via Email, ISIS, OLAT oder einer anderen Form als dem publizierten Online-Formular werden NICHT berücksichtigt. Wer bereits früher ein Seminar mit derselben Vorlesungsnummer (18680: Natur und Gesellschaften) besucht hat, kann dieses Seminar nicht mehr belegen, der Erwerb von KP ist NICHT mehr möglich.
