| Content | This course is for advanced MA English, MA SuK and PhD candidates in English linguistics. We will discuss the 'work in progress' (seminar papers, MA theses, PhD theses) of the participants and will work on acquiring research skills in methodology, critical reading and soft skills in linguistics. PhD students can also draw on this class for data workshops. The oral MA exam will also be discussed, if desired. The program and reading list will be decided on at the beginning of term when the program is set. |
| Learning objectives | Students learn to present their research topics and to raise questions about research design and methodology. They should be able to outline and defend or criticize different research approaches and methodologies and to crucially discuss the consequences of methodological decisions. |
| Bibliography | The program reading list will be decided on at the beginning of term when the program is set. Texts can be uploaded into ADAM. |
