Content | This seminar accompanies the lecture course “Global Housing Histories.” It discusses in more depth the material covered in the lectures, and can only be taken in addition to this course. The focus of our discussion will be on historiography and current debates in housing studies and adjacent fields. During some sessions, we will analyze specific housing plans and other visual materials. In other sessions, we will discuss readings that deepen our knowledge of housing issues in specific historical contexts. |
Learning objectives | Develop an understanding of the complexity of housing in historical context. Active use of fundamental concepts in architecture and urbanism such as form, type, function, and program. Foundational skills in housing and urban history, to comprehend the multifarious conditions in which housing is produced, represented, and experienced. |
