Content | Working memory (WM) displays a central mental process that is crucial for higher-level cognitive functions and can lead to serious impacts in daily life when impaired. Interestingly, it has been suggested that computerized trainings could ameliorate WM impairments or improve the individuals' WM capacity in general. Numerous training strategies have been developed, however, they are limited by methodological issues and they lack validated models of WM that could explain the underlying trained mechanisms. Furthermore, the efficacies of these different training strategies have not been directly compared so far. |
Learning objectives | We therefore aim to develop a WM training on a tablet based on Baddeley's multicomponent WM model and compare it to two widely used training strategies and a active control group in order to investigate its efficacy in improving WM performances and as well transfer effects to other cognitive functions in healthy adults. |
