Content | Computer-mediated communication (CMC) has been en vogue for several decades and is part of our daily communicative habits. The literature on online forms of interaction is constantly growing so that we can profit from theoretical and methodological discussions on how best to approach mediated language use. In this lecture, you will be introduced to recent linguistic description of online data and will learn how to describe differences with respect to diverse online means. We will also explore the interconnectedness of online and offline communication channels and strategies. |
Learning objectives | At the end of this course students should - have gained a thorough knowledge of key concept in CMC research - be able to describe technical and social affordances of different CMC modes - have sharpened their understanding of research challenges in CMC contexts - be confident to find new research questions |
