| Content | The colloquium will focus on developments of money markets and on the monetary policy implementation. From a monetary policy point of view, money markets are very important for the implementation and transmission of monetary policy. The colloquium will thus address the issues: What is the current state of money markets (environment with excess liquidity and/or negative interest rates) and going forward, what are the implications of post-crisis regulatory reform (i.e. Basel III)? During the crisis, central banks have implemented non-standard measures (outright purchases of corporate and government bonds and/or foreign currency) and thereby increased market liquidity. Central banks have various tools at hand to manage interest rates in an environment of excess reserves/ liquidity. The colloquium will thus also focus on the key objectives of a monetary policy implementation framework and how it will evolve when monetary policy will be normalized (e.g. unwind of large-scale asset purchases). |
