| Content | Though it still seems radical and challenging today, video art has been around since the early 1960s – and artists’ experiments with moving images are much older than that. This seminar will treat this intriguing form of art as a historical phenomenon, with antecedents, schools, and a canon of essential works. Students will study the relationship between new technologies and artists’ works, and consider the process of canon formation in this young medium. |
