Content | How does one go about to produce a usable digital corpus ? What methods, obstacles, solutions should one be aware of ? Are there any dangers to avoid, principles to follow ? This seminar aims at providing young and future researchers with both a usable toolkit and a theoretical framework on their way to producing and using annotated corpora for computational literary analysis. |
Learning objectives | - discover tools and methods to prepare a literary corpus for its computational analysis : OCR, XML-TEI, with an intention to extract data out of the xml and into a simple db - learn about current research in the field - hands-on work on an actual corpus - an opportunity to present and discuss one’s own work and its challenges |

Comments | Despite its focus on poetry, this seminar is designed to be of interest to all literary scholars, regardless of the genre they work on. |
Admission requirements | From zero to a lot of prior experience with computational approaches, this seminar is designed to be of use to all MA/Doctoral students interested in computational approaches to literature, regardless of their interest in poetry specifically. |
