| Content | Machine Learning in the Psychological and Behavioral Sciences Increasing digitalization and methodological developments in machine learning promise to advance both explanation and prediction in the human and social sciences (e.g., Hofman et al., 2021). To fulfil this promise, however, researchers in the psychological and behavioural sciences will require advanced training and reflection concerning such developments and techniques. This course will provide MSc, PhD students, and early postdoctoral researchers with opportunities for training and discussion so as to fulfil the promise of adopting machine learning methods in the psychological and behavioural sciences. This course is a Eucor-Seminar and will be conducted in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Benjamin Scheibehenne, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. |
| Learning objectives | • Reflect about the use of machine learning methods in the psychological and behavioural sciences • Obtain hands-on training on machine learning techniques • Assess the promise and challenges of adopting machine learning methods in the prediction of psychological and behavioural variables |
