| Content | This reading course is designed to complement the survey lecture "Romantics and Victorians" (21764), and the focus will be on reading primary literature and obtaining an in-depth view of 19th century British culture. We will discuss the texts, mainly poetry and novels and some non-fiction, and situate them in their cultural context. (N.B.: The reading load in this course is heavy; students are advised to start reading the novels during the vacation.) |
