| Content | Introduction: Nature of light, fundamentals of light-matter interactions, photobiology, photophysics, photochemistry, laser and light sources. Light-Tissue Interactions: Photochemical interaction, biostimulation, photo-thermal effects, photoablation, plasma-induced ablation, photo-acoustic effects, photon transport Spectroscopy: Absorption, diffuse reflectance, fluorescence, Raman and tissue spectroscopy Bioimaging Principles and Techniques: Introduction to optical microscopy, principle of image formation, amplitude and phase microscopy, polarization, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, optical diffraction tomography and new microscopic techniques. 3D Bioimaging: Optical coherence tomography, polarimetry, diffuse optical tomography, photothermal imaging, photoacoustic imaging and optical biopsy. |
