| Content | The course focuses on human judgment and decision making from the perspective of the behavioral sciences, particularly psychology and behavioral economics. (The course does not require prior study of those areas however.) Using observations from laboratory and field experiments, behavioral scientists describe how people make decisions and the mental processes that lead to these decisions. The theory is heavily guided by observations from experiments. Behavioral Science seeks to understand and predict how people judge and decide and how human judgments align with those prescribed by logic and rational economics. |
| Learning objectives | o Gain insights from behavioral research (social psychology, cognitive psychology, behavioral economics) into how people form judgments and make decisions o Improve your understanding of how managers, consumers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and others make decisions. o Gain an alternative perspective to the prescriptions of “rational economics.” |

| Admission requirements | No more ECTS may be earned with this lecture if the course 31960 Microeconomics and Psychology of Decision Making has already been successfully completed. |

| Assessment details | written exam: 09.01.24; 8:30-10:00; DSBG Sporthalle: A-Z. For this exam you will still receive additional information by email. You would have to be on site at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. The addresses of the examination rooms can be found here: https://wwz.unibas.ch/de/studium/pruefungen/vorlesungs-und-pruefungsraeume/ You can still withdraw from the examination by submitting a completed, signed form to our office from 17.10.23 until 27.10.23 / 12:00 o’clock. The deregistration form and the mail address can be found on the homepage of the Dean of Studies Office: https://wwz.unibas.ch/en/studies/examinations/de-/registration-of-examinations/ Prior to 16.10.23, please deregister only in the Online Services. repeat exam: 07.02.24; 12:30-14:00.
