67519-01 - Lecture with practical courses: Introduction to Numerical Relativity in Cosmology (4 CP)

Content Course content:

C1: - Basic properties of fluids and plasmas in astrophysics (Ideal versus dissipative fluids, Euler and the Navier-Stokes equations, Compressible, weakly compressible and incompressible fluid flows, Magnetohydrodynamics)

C2: Numerical methods in hydrodynamics (The equations in the finite space, Conditionally versus unconditionally stable numerical schemes, Explicit & implicit formulation Preconditioning techniques in Krylov subspace)

C3: Introduction to programming and computer-solving of simple equations

C4: Introduction to numerical general relativity (Numerical aspects of the general relativistic Navier-Stokes equations, TOV equation, tidal-deformability, cosmological models, and acceleration expansion of the universe)

C5: Projects: At the end of the semester, students will be encouraged to work on four simple projects in numerical relativity and computational cosmology
Learning objectives Wie man Algorithmen für spezifische Probleme der Astrophysik und Kosmologie konstruiert, sie in entsprechende Computercodes überführt und schließlich digital löst.

How to construct algorithms for specific problems in astrophysics and cosmology, transfer them into appropriate computer codes, and finally solve them digitally.
