70836-01 - Lecture with practical courses: Neurotheory: Introduction to Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience (2 CP)

Semester spring semester 2025
Course frequency Every spring sem.
Lecturers Everton Joao Agnes (everton.agnes@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content The aim of the Neurotheory course is to introduce students to computational modelling in neuroscience, from single neurons to behaviour. During the course, the students will be exposed to mathematical models that describe the dynamics of neuronal processes (e.g., ion channels, synapses, and membrane potential), learning (e.g., Hebb's rule and spike-timing-dependent plasticity), networks (e.g., binary, linear, and spiking neurons with feedforward and recurrent connectivity patterns), and behaviour (e.g., memory recall and decision making). As exercises (to be evaluated by the lecturer), the students will solve mathematical and coding exercises, with the goal to introduce them to research on theoretical and computational neuroscience.
