Content | The lecture "Introduction to Energy Economics" provides a comprehensive overview on a multitude of topics in the fields of energy, resource, and environmental economics. The lecture will cover two main objectives: Firstly, the current market developments are presented and analyzed, and secondly, relevant economic concepts and theories will be presented using energy markets as an example. The lecture is split in two blocks. During the fall term the global energy situation and the resource markets oil, natural gas, and coal will be discussed. During the spring term electricity markets, environmental issues and renewable energies, energy demand, and competition policy will be discussed. Both lectures can be visited independently. However, the lecture is designed as a joint unit starting in the fall term. |
Learning objectives | The aim of the lecture is to provide an overview on current developments in global energy markets and link economic theory with the applied problems of energy economics. |
Bibliography | The lecture is based on current reports and papers. All relevant literature will be provided as download. |
