Content | Description: The course (organized as a lecture series) will clarify concepts related to climate change direct and indirect effects on health, extreme events, vulnerability, resilience, adaptive capacities, mitigation, adaptation and sustainability. It will present methodologies and frameworks for multidisciplinary assessment of vulnerabilities and health risks to increase adaptation and resilience of communities and enable socio-economic benefits. It will show also how climate related policies will affect public health and present case studies from different perspectives and contexts. Content: Climate change processes and how do they affect several sectors, different pathways of climate change specific impact on health, effects of climate extreme events on heat-related morbidity and mortality; air pollution and health, pollen and allergies, migration, food systems, vector-borne diseases, health co-benefits, international agenda, mitigation and adaptation from the perspective of health professionals |
Learning objectives | Participants will get updated evidence on the links between climate change and health. The course will also give an overview of methods and approaches from risk evaluation to adaptation measures, the political and economic dimensions, as well as the international agendas and frameworks. |
