Course frequency | Every spring sem. |
Lecturers | Samer Angelone (samer.alasaad@unibas.ch, Assessor) |
Content | A-Storytelling and Storyboarding Science Participants learn storytelling and storyboarding from the masters of narrative, ‘the filmmakers’. Participants learn how to borrow communication strategies and techniques from filmmakers and how to apply them in communicating their science. This will help them to engage audience and increase uptake by incorporating narrative attributes into their teaching, divulgations and publications. B-Photography for scientists Participants will learn to be more "visually literate", which will empower them to more effectively communicate their science. This includes learning how to work with cameras, tripod, and light. The practical part includes photo-shooting sessions C-Filmmaking for scientists Participants will learn about camera, audio, lighting equipment, and how to use film editing software, together with how to write, design and carry out the basics of making a documentary. This practical part includes filming short films. |
