Content This seminar offers a close reading of Toyin Falola's monumental study on decolonizing African Studies. We will look into single chapters and discuss them critically. Nigerian-born Falola belongs to the most eminent public intellectuals in African studies. Based at the University of Texas, Austin, he wields enormous influence on scholarship primarily on African history, However, the said volume covers an even wider range of themes including philosophy, linguistics, gender studies and religious studies and many more.

Comments Reference is made to my seminar on Theories of the Global South that is focusing on actual positions towards post-/de-coloniality (focusing on the status of religion, and Christianity) in this semester. Depending on the structure of students participating, this seminar may be held in English as well.
