Lecturers | Lucie Chamlian (l.chamlian@unibas.ch, Assessor) |
Content | This lecture introduces students to the contemporary history of European integration from a global perspective. Drawing on historical and political science accounts, the first part of the course lays out the conventional history of European construction, resumed as "deeper, wider and compromised". The second part engages the closer history of the European Union, focusing on how the EU relates to the world after multiple internal and external crises. |
Learning objectives | To know the historical key events, processes and structures of European integration as well as the contexts in which they unfold. To critically interrogate mainstream narratives of European integration. |
