| Content | At work or during their studies, most people do not work in isolation but have to collaborate with others, in pairs or in teams. The field of Group Decision Making studies individuals’ behaviour in such small group settings. It covers topics such as (lack of) motivation when working in teams, with issues related to dilution of responsibility or free-riding; better or worse performance of groups compared to individuals; impact on creativity and developing novel ideas; etc. The theory seminar adopts a socio-psychological perspective and focuses on the antecedents and consequences of group decision making. Students will develop an understanding of small group processes and derive the prerequisites for effective decision making. Students are expected to show a high degree of involvement in the seminar. |
| Learning objectives | Students are expected to understand basic models of group decision making and to explain them. Students will be able to draw practical conclusions for different group situations based on theory. |

| Course application | Die interne Anmeldefrist der Fakultät für Psychologie ist der 17. August 2025. Die Anmeldung erfolgt durch das Belegen via services.unibas.ch (Start: 1.8.25). Vom 18. August bis 31. August 2025 nehmen die Dozierenden die Einteilung in die Seminare vor und informieren die Studierenden entsprechend. Bitte stornieren Sie Ihre Belegung wieder, wenn Sie keinen Platz in einem Seminar erhalten haben. |

| Assessment details | In dieser Veranstaltung können Studierende, die in der StO15 eingeschrieben sind, eine Note im Modul Theorie erwerben. Hierfür ist eine zusätzliche schriftliche Leistung erforderlich, die benotet und bei einer Bewertung von >4.0 mit 2 KP via Services erfasst wird. ACHTUNG: Die zusätzliche Seminarleistung wird in der neuen StO24 ab HS24 nicht mehr angeboten. Studierende der StO24 können somit keine Note und keine zusätzlichen KP via Zusatzleistung erwerben. |
