| Content | Dopo essere stata per secoli tra le opere più amate e influenti della cultura europea, la Gerusalemme liberata (1581) di Torquato Tasso può sembrare ai lettori di oggi meno accessibile di altri classici della letteratura italiana. Il corso si interrogherà sulle ragioni di questa distanza e insieme cercherà di mostrare che oggi ci sono ottime ragioni di rileggere il capolavoro tassiano, di cui anzi lo sguardo contemporaneo può forse rivelare nuove bellezze e nuove ragioni di interesse. Nella prima parte del corso saranno presentate le acquisizioni di una ricca stagione di studi storico-letterari che ha gettato nuova luce sulla storia compositiva del poema, facendo emergere le tensioni che la attraversano e la fragilità degli equilibri testuali via via raggiunti (lungo un percorso più che trentennale che va dal Gierusalemme del 1559 alla Conquistata del 1593). Individuare queste zone instabili e problematiche permetterà un accesso diretto agli aspetti ancor oggi più vitali del poema tassiano, che saranno esplorati, in una seconda parte del corso, seguendo alcune direttrici tematiche fondamentali: la questione dell’identità (in particolare politico-religiosa), la dialettica tra maschile e femminile, il rapporto tra natura e meraviglia. |
