Learning objectives In this course, students will learn that eHealth plays a major role in health care and its impact will be further growing in the future. The course is based on the premise that eHealth is not only a technological development but also a way of thinking innovatively in order to leverage technology to optimize health outcomes as part of innovative care models.
Upon completion of the course students will be able to.

1. Explain current and evolving definitions and theories of eHealth and relevant related terminology.
2. Recognize and discuss the potential and risks of eHealth innovations for redesigning and reconfiguringprocesses to enhance health care.
3. Describe how collected (aggregated) data may be collected and used to support decision-making in practice.
4. Identify how selected theories of behavior and human factors (i.e., human computer interaction) influence technology acceptance and adoption and how theory can support intervention development with an eHealth component.
5. Identify the role of eHealth in promoting the role of patients in health care (e.g., self-management applications, remote monitoring, electronic communications).
6. Understand eHealth policies within a local, national and international context.
7. Critically appraise the benefits, drawbacks and potential barriers to the implementation and adoption of eHealth solutions in view of its development process (i.e., using a user centered design and intervention theory), its content.
8. Know the state of science and expected developments in Robotics in Nursing.
9. Apply specified criteria for the evaluation of an eHealth intervention.
10. Argue why implementation science is a relevant methodology to successfully implement and evaluate eHealth interventions in real-life settings.
11. Obtain a basic understanding of technology development of eHealth solutions and legal and regulation aspects of eHealth development.
12. Obtain a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts and applications of nursing informatics and how it contributes to enhancing patient care.
