10146-01 - Lecture: Financial Markets Theory (6 CP)

Content Financial Markets Theory is a 6 ECTS credit course. It consists of 11 lectures, 7 seminars, 2 guest lectures, 1 home-work assignment, and 2 Q&A sessions.
The language of instruction is English.
All the course materials will be made available on ADAM.

The objective of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to modern financial markets.

The course proceeds in three parts:
• Part 1: Finance Theory:
o Risk and Return
o Portfolio Theory

• Part 2: Financial Instruments:
o Fixed Income
o Derivatives.

• Part 3: Money & Finance:
o Monetary Policy: Standard Tools
o Monetary Policy: Current Topics.
Learning objectives Having completed this course, students will know the most important concepts in financial markets and be able to solve problems in this area independently.
Bibliography • The main study material are the course and seminar slides.
• The course partly follows Bodie, Z., Kane, A. and Marcus, A.J. (2024). Investments. McGraw-Hill, 13th edition.

Any other additional reading material will be provided directly on ADAM.
