78035-01 - Research seminar: Turkish Politics in Literature: Selected Readings (3 CP)

Semester spring semester 2026
Course frequency Once only
Lecturers Zeynep Sabanci (zeynep.sabanci@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content This course examines literary texts in relation to political thought, power relations, and social transformation, with the aim of exploring how politics in Turkey is represented, debated, and reproduced through literature. Through selected works spanning from the late Ottoman period to Republican Turkey, the course demonstrates that literature is not merely a medium that reflects political processes, but also a cultural practice in which political meanings are constructed, negotiated, and critically interrogated.
