Content This course provides hands-on training in effective scientific communication. Participants will develop skills in public speaking, storytelling, and critical scientific discussion, while exploring current topics and methods in ecology and sustainable development. Students will present their own work and engage in scientific discussions.

Good practice in scientific presentations:
- Learning how to convey ideas effectively;
- Handling storytelling and public speaking.

Current topics, scientific approaches and new methods in ecology and sustainable development:
Presentation and discussion of own research projects (including master's theses);
Presentation and discussion of important, groundbreaking publications.
Learning objectives Participants will:
- practice and improve their performance skills in the context of a presentation of scientific data;
- practice and improve their ability to critically discuss scientific articles;
- acquire knowledge about current topics, approaches and methods of scientific sustainability research (from the perspective of the natural sciences).
Comments MSD:
Compulsory course for ALL students with focus area in natural sciences (regardless of how the supervision and assessment of the master's thesis is organized ).

This course is offered by the MSD. Marina Garrido Priego (post doc) is working in the research group Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Conservation (short: Ecosy)/Dep. of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences.

 

Admission requirements Only for MSD-students with focus area in natural sciences once they have started with the Master's thesis; and post docs & staff members of Ecosy reasearch group.
Course application Course enrollment on online services should be completed by the beginning of the teaching period (withdrawal possible until Monday of week five).
