Lecturers Lara Nikola Wolfers (lara.wolfers@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Media and digital technologies are increasingly ingrained into everyday life, shaping how people think, feel, relate to others, and experience the world. As a result, understanding media psychological pro-cesses has become central to understanding a wide range of human experiences.

We will, for example, discuss what parasocial relationships are and why they matter, we will explore why we enjoy sad movies and we will learn about current research on how social media im-pacts well-being and attention.
Learning objectives Students are able to:
- understand basic media psychological theories and principles
- correctly define and differentiate key media psychological concepts
- summarize the current state of research on important media psychological research topics
- critically evaluate claims about media effects
